Internet Exercises 03/6/2013

1. This program has great value in the marketing channel because this could give netflix a broader outreach of consumers. Many different demographics have their own websites that could use this and reach their own demographic.

2. If consumers provided more answers to market research then there could be less ads everywhere because then others could see what everyone else is using and what works the best for the consumers. Plus, the companies could use this information to pin point more of the consumers so then would have to have ads in the wrong places.

3. They take all the information that consumers enter and see what area is the most used and why. This could narrow their view so they could focus on one area to improve on.

4. Product brokering- deciding what product to buy
    Merchant brokering- Deciding from whom to buy products.
    Personalization- The matching of services, products, and advertising content individual
                                 consumers and their preference. 
    User profile- The requirements, preferences, behaviors, and demographic traits of a particular
                          customers.
    Cookie- A data file that is placed on a user's hard drive by a remote web server, frequently without
                   disclosure or users consent.
    E-loyalty- Customer loyalty to an e-Tailor or loyalty programs delivered online or supported
                     electronically.
    Trust- The psychological status of willingness to depend on another person or organization.
    Transition log- A record of user activities at a company's Web site.
    Click stream behavior- Customer movements on the Internet.
    Spy ware- Software that gathers user information over an Internet connection without the user's
                    knowledge.  
5. I noticed that all three Web sites offer surveys to get customer feed back and to find out what  
    areas the consumers are interested in.

8. Hotwire is advertising car rentals, cruises and their own app for the cell phone. I think that hotwire
    is advertising more toward the travelers.
    The first ad that I see on ESPN is an ad for liquor. So their ads are mostly focused on the sports
    fans that like to drink.  ESPN has an area at the bottom of their that is promoting the the sale of tee
    shirts. But then at the top of the page they have a button that you can push to do more shopping.
9. Ad:tech is an interactive advertising and technology conference and exhibition. Worldwide shows
    blend keynote speakers, topic driven panels and workshops to provide attendees with the tools and
    techniques they need to compete in a changing world.
    All of these sites are interactive and most have an app that can be used on the cell phone.
10.It gives the consumer the chance to interact and try a hair color before you actually dye it.
11. The reviews and feed back of other users helps give me an insight of the sites so it's easier to
     make decisions.
12.They can get on Linkedin and talk about what there company is about and then the can contact
     other people or companies about their product or services they offer. So this is an open world for
     easy advertising.

14. They are using the research to see what demographics are doing what on the net. They show what
      the most areas are that being used the most by who.
