This blog is titled The Good, The Bad and The Dangerous because I will be going into detail all the good points of Craig's list, the bad points of Craig list and the dangerous points of this e-commerce area.
Some of the good points of Craig list is that it's like a giant yard sale for people all over the country. People have the option to look in other parts of the country for things they might want instead of being stuck in just the area where they live. Craig list gives the seller the chance to sell their things in a wide range instead of a small area increasing the chance of a sale. Craig list isn't just for selling things there is also areas for job searching, business advertising, resume posting, and personal ads. Craigs list offers a great variety of stuff to use the best part it's all free. Anyone from shoppers to businesses can use Craigs list. The website doesn't restrict who uses.
Some of the bad points of Craigs list is that it's not face to face interaction so people can say one thing and do another. Such as if some says they would like to meet to look at what you're selling and they never show. then you've wasted your time waiting on the person. So there's no legal proof that the deal will happen. You're trying to work on this site by word of mouth and trusting what people say.
Other bad points are that if people post something about their service or product the information that the provide could be false. So if you meet with the person and the service isn't what you thought it would be or the product isn't what they described then you wasted your time. so you have no actual proof saying that it is what it says it is.
Now to the most important part of this blog the dangerous point of Craigs list. Craigs list is useful in many ways and can be helpful to find jobs or your soul mate but there are major dangers of this site. There are many places on this site that have dangers around every corner. The most dangerous section would be the personal area. People will post things in this area and then meet up with replies but then do the unthinkable they wind up killing them. I'm not saying this happens all the time but this is a very dangerous place to try and meet people. Other dangers include the sale of things if you set up a meeting to sale something with someone the chances of them getting there robbing you and getting away are high. Do to the fact that there is no way to trace anyone that you maybe emailing there is little to no chance of the police finding the people responsible. And if you are going to be buying something of great value there's even a greater Chance of someone robbing then because the "seller" knows how much you're bringing to do the transaction so the know how much money you have, with them knowing this it gives them the inspiration to pull off the robbery.
The main point I would like to get across is Craigs list is a great place to shop. But take precautions when doing so. Know the dangers and be aware of the area that you're in. Use Craigs list for what it is there for and don't abuse it.

ReplyDeleteI think this was a very informative blog. I personally have never purchased anything from craigslist.com but, have heard the nightmarish stories that some have endured due to this website. It has deterred me away from it somewhat. However if while brousing I come across something I just can't live without I'm sure I'll take the chance. Thanks for the information
ReplyDeleteThis was definitely a very informative blog. I feel like i was reading an article in a newspaper column. And you are absolutely correct with everything that you talked about here. Craigs List is a great and useful sight in helping someone find those odd things that they may need that they don't want to spend the full price on...and then it can also have that negative affect on you if you don't use it the correct way. It's really the best and worst of both worlds. I really enjoyed reading this!

ReplyDeleteI have used craig list to buy floor equipment, got a floor buffer from a person that was moveing out of town, so I got it for the low low, that was the best buy for my business. Will be doing and useing the site again, along with some other sites, it can be a good thing if you know what to look for.
